Incorporating Technology

For the 3 day lesson plan technology was used as follows:

Google Forms, Youtube, Google Slides, EdPuzzle, Quill.org, Kahoot!, Clever Touch, and computers.

Google Forms activates prior knowledge, ensuring all students are on the same page before the lesson begins. YouTube and EdPuzzle provide visual introductions to the grammar concepts, catering to different learning styles. Google Slides and Quill.org offer interactive platforms for teaching and practicing grammar rules, allowing students to engage at their own pace. Kahoot! adds an element of gamification to the lesson, making learning about sentence structures fun and interactive. Students take on a more active role in their learning by creating a video lesson using technology such as computers and the Clever Touch interactive displays. At the end of the lessons Youtube and Google Slides serve as a resource for gathering information and structuring their video content effectively.

While the technology itself may not inherently promote global awareness, incorporating diverse examples and scenarios in the content and assignments can help students to recognize the universal nature of language and grammar rules across different cultures and languages (Bruckner & Nunn, 2023). Through the selection of examples and texts from diverse cultural backgrounds, students gain insights into how language and sentence structures vary across different contexts and regions, fostering a deeper appreciation for linguistic diversity. Encouraging students to integrate examples and perspectives from various subject areas such as social studies, science, or math into their video lessons can expose them to different cultural contexts and viewpoints (Armstrong, 2020). By incorporating diverse content, students can develop a more nuanced understanding of how language and communication intersect with global issues and perspectives.

Ensuring technology is used appropriately by students involved implementing clear guidelines, providing support and supervision, and fostering a responsible digital citizenship culture. A few strategies you can use:

1. Establish Clear Expectations:
2. Providing Training and Support:
3. Monitor Usage:
4. Model Appropriate Use:
5. Encourage Collaboration:
6. Discuss Digital Citizenship:
7. Set Clear Consequences:

By implementing some or all of these strategies, educators can create a supportive and responsible learning environment where technology is used effectively to enhance student learning experiences.

Overall, the integration of these technologies not only enhances student engagement and understanding of grammar concepts, but it also provides opportunities to explore diverse cultural perspectives within the context of language and communication (Hossain, 2024).
